Implants

A dental implant is an option to replace a missing tooth. Dental implants are small titanium cylinders that are surgically inserted into the bone and allowed to heal. The implant replaces the root of the missing tooth, providing an anchor for your new tooth/teeth. The bone grows in and around the implant forming a tight connection, which additionally slows or stops the bone loss that occurs when the root of a natural tooth is missing. Once the implant is firmly set in the mouth, Dr. Hudson will then work to attach the replacement tooth onto the top of the shaft. This permanent solution is more favorable than bridgework since they do not depend on neighboring teeth for support. Implants can also be used for support as part of an implant bridge or as an alternative to partial dentures. You, the patient, must be committed to excellent oral hygiene and regular dental visits as these are critical to the long-term success of dental implants.
